The announcement of the first edition spoke in the future tense: a date, a place, a training path to support. That day has now passed.

On the evening of Thursday 6 August 2026, in Ponte Caffaro (BS), on Lake Idro, our committee awarded its first scholarships. The occasion was the AIC Canyoning Meeting 2026, the international gathering of the Italian Canyoning Association.

We presented them together with the Italian Canyoning Guides Association (AIGC), and they support the training path of Matteo Del Fitto and Luciano Cavalieri, two deserving young aspiring canyoning guides.

Why we start with training

Promoting a culture of prevention and of responsible use of the river environment means beginning with the qualification and professionalism of those who will lead others into a canyon. Supporting these two paths is the most direct way we know to do that, and it is the mission this committee took on in Alessandro’s memory: safety in canyons and the training of young people.

Seeing that mission take shape before the canyoning community moved us deeply, and it was a moment we shared with them.

Our thanks go to AIC for their hospitality and their invitation, and to AIGC for the valuable collaboration that made this initiative possible. To Matteo and Luciano go our best wishes for the road ahead.
